Exploring and learning through architecture is central to the Sculpture in the City education outreach programme delivered by Urban Learners for 200 pupils from 9 neighbouring schools of the Square Mile.
They engage students with architecture in a variety of ways including ‘Deep Looking’ – framing views and observational sketching highlighting details, and outline drawings focussing on proportion and scale. All activities relate to one or more curriculum subject including art, design, technology and maths, as well as fusion skills and STEAM education.
Architecture is a fantastic ‘meaning-maker’ – making sense of subjects in a real-life situation and through practical application.
