Celebrating City Women | Annie and Florence

Our City Together

Go back to the Victorian Era with expert guide Laura Miller to hear the stories of two pioneering nurses that made their mark. Being a nurse in the early Victorian times surprisingly wasn't seen as a very respectable profession, times now have changed thankfully to the pioneering work of both Annie Brewster and Florence Oppenheim who both had successful careers.

Both nurses came from a lower class background and worked in some of the most intense and disease ridden environments at the time, both in London and overseas in the First World War. Laura explores the lives of both exceptional women who's work left a lasting impact on not only the people around them but in London itself.
