Join the City of London Guides on a virtual exploration series, See the City from your Sofa. There are 7 events in total throughout March and April running twice a week on a Wednesday and a Sunday. This tour takes you on a journey to discover many of the literary works that the City has inspired, and where those writers lived.
The City is well known as the Financial District. Sharp suits, glass towers, the rush of money and power. But, if you look beneath all of this, the written word runs through the Square Mile and the echoes of poets and authors are round every corner.
This Virtual Walk with Jill takes a look at the streets where the word was once mightier than the hedge fund.
Jill qualified as a City of London Guide in 2013 and as a guide in St Paul’s Cathedral the following year. Jill also guides in the Guildhall Art Gallery and the church of All Hallows’ Barking by the Tower She is also a tutor for Bromley Adult Education College, leading walks throughout London for adult learners
A member of The Friends of the City Churches, Jill runs walks and gives talks for this organisation as well as the City’s Guildhall Library, the Barbican Library and various historical societies and organisations in and around London. These have been replaced by regular online talks & virtual walks over the last 9 months.
Please note: the tour is virtual and will be delivered over Zoom. Places are free thanks to support from the City of London Corporation but must be reserved. The details of the Zoom link will be sent out 24 hours before the event to everyone who registers. See the 'Do it' button below for a link to book.
