Join the City of London Guides on a virtual exploration series, See the City from your Sofa. There are 7 events in total throughout March and April running twice a week on a Wednesday and a Sunday. The first tour dives into Dickens's literary world which often features the City of London. Copy below supplied by City of London Guides.
Charles Dickens loved London - no other writer has ever been so influenced by the City. Come for a virtual wander through the City streets in the 150th year of the great author’s death and discover the sites which formed the background to his life. We’ll see where he first arrived in London packed in straw ‘like game’, where he first fell in love and the beautiful Wren church which inspired so many of his characters. We’ll also visit sites mentioned in his books including Newgate prison where Fagin spends his last desperate hours and the irrepressible Mr Pickwick’s favourite pub!
Gina is passionate about London and loves showing visitors all that this great City has to offer. She is a City of London and London Blue Badge Guide and a proud freeman of the City who recently exercised her ancient right to bring goods toll free into the City by driving ‘her’ sheep over London Bridge!
The tour is virtual and will be delivered over Zoom. Places are free thanks to support from the City of London Corporation but must be reserved. The details of the Zoom link will be sent out 24 hours before the event to everyone who registers. See the 'Do it' button below for a link to book.
